An Irish women’s junior team has been selected by Cycling Ireland to race in Britain this weekend.
The juniors will ride the Witham Hall Junior Women's Grand Prix in Stamford, Lincolnshire, on Sunday. It is the first round of the National Junior Women’s Road Race Series.
There are four riders in the national selection.
Lara Gillespie (Scott-Orwell) and Clodagh Gallagher (AAA) are in the team. They rode junior Gent-Wevelgem in Belgium two weeks ago.
They competed in that race with an international composite selection; Team Cannibal. Their involvement was arranged by Adrian McLeavey’s IrishCycleSport International Cycling Project.

Lara Gillespie is the elite cyclocross champion. She rode the U23 race at the Worlds earlier this season and finished 23rd.
At Gent-Wevelgem she put in a great ride; placing 25th and finishing in the same time as the winner.
Clodagh Gallagher also rode very well in Belgium; coming home in 76th and just 1:30 down in what was a very strong international field.
She took the gold in the School Games in England riding for Ulster last year.
She also took medals in the National Road Youth Championships last year in the TT, road race and criterium.
Maeve Gallagher is a top cyclist, runner and triathlete. She has represented Ireland already; including at the Youth Olympics in Hungary last year and the Youth Tour of Scotland, also last season.
She has been Irish Junior Triathlete of the Year and is Irish Schools Triathlon Champion. In running she has won medals at the junior cross country championships in the U17 and U18 categories.
Orla Desmond (TC Racing) rode Gent Wevelgem last year and has won multiple medals on track and road at the national championships.
