One of the vintage Bianchi bikes in a rare collection of 60 vintage bikes and 15 frames all being offered for sale in one lot on Ebay.
A cycling fan who has built up what he calls an “extremely rare vintage road bike collection” for over 30 years is now offering them for sale on Ebay.
The 60 steel bikes, along with 15 frames, is being offered for sale in one lot with an asking price if US$35,000.
The seller is based in Germany and said he is only interested in offers to sell the bikes and frames to one buyer, adding he wants to “preserve and cultivate the heritage of cycling” by deciding not to split up the collection.
“I offer my complete collection of 60 steel road bikes and 15 frames,” he says on his Ebay advert of one of the more unusual cycling offers we’ve seen.
“I collected this one in a million amazing and beautiful vintage bikes for over 30 years.”
He listed the brands of the bikes as: Colnago, Pinarello, Chesini, Denti, Barelli, Messina, Bianchi, Champion, Paganini, Battaglin, Geminiani, Faggin, Kotter, Cilo, Enik, Jan Jansen, Gentleman, Raleigh, Diamond, Alan, Koga Miyata, Motobecane, Peugeot, Mercier, Eddy Schütz, Le Jeune, Bim Diederich, Charles Pelissier, Raymond Poulidor, Jacques Anquetil, Jeannie Longo, Hinault, Puch, Velotec, Schauff and Gerber.
He has promised to answer any questions that prospective buyers may have and also plans to share more information in time about each of the bikes.
“As there are at the moment many requests for pictures and technical details of each bike we are busy to assemble a catalogue with all the information,” he said of the collection he has dubbed the ‘cathedral of cycling’.
The bikes hanging on the collector's walls and making for a very impressive sight. But now he is selling the 60 bikes and 15 frames all in one lot on auction site Ebay.
