Video: Rider's carbon fork snaps during sprint finish in French pro race

Simon Pellaud was in full flight in the spring when suddenly his handlebars were detached from bike due to his carbon fork snapping at the top

Swiss cyclist Simon Pellaud has taken his latest result despite breaking his carbon fork during a sprint finish.

The IAM Excelsior
rider was in the gallop for 2nd place at Tour du Doubs (1.1) when the top of
his fork snapped.

It meant his
handlers broke off and fell down onto the top of his front wheel in the middle
of the sprint.

The 26-year-old from Switzerland managed to initially stay upright and cross the finish line for 5th, as the videos below reveal.

However, he
crashed just after the line and was forced to jump up onto the stage with his
bike to avoid the group sprinting in for the minor placings.

Cher E Provost (2.2) this year.

He also won the
king of the mountains at this year’s Tour de Romandie and took victory in the
one-day Flèche Ardennaise (1.2) this year as well as overall victory in Tour de
