Cycling Ireland has been allocated €860,000 in core funding and high performance funding combined for the current year by Sport Ireland.
In the allocations for each sport announced by Sport Ireland, the funds for both the national governing bodies and, separately, the high performance programmes run by each NGB remain the same as last year.
Cycling Ireland’s allocation compares favourably against most other sports as it is one of the biggest recipients, though the funding going to the GAA, FAI and IRFU dwarfs what other sports are receiving.
The GAA is receiving some €2,390,000 while the IRFU is to receive €2,251,000. The FAI is getting €5,800,000, though the soccer development programmes that cash goes to have to be approved by the board of Sport Ireland.
In total, some €13.8 million has been allocated to 59
national governing bodies for their core activities, under which Cycling
Ireland receives €420,000.
Furthermore, €8.5m has been allocated towards high performance in the funded sports, with Cycling Ireland's high performance programme receiving €440,000. There is also a total of €2.4 million for the international carding system for athletes across Olympic sports.
