You can win a Girona training camp worth €1,500. Here's how

The Catalan town of Girona has long been regarded as one of the top destinations for the world’s best professional cyclists to base themselves. And for two lucky readers it will be where they'll rack up some good miles this winter.

With year-round sunshine, deserted roads, an endless capillary network of routes and comparatively low prices, more and more riders, pro and amateur, are calling Girona home.

As a thanks to our readers for continuing to make us the country’s number one cycling website, we at stickybottle are offering two lucky readers an opportunity to experience the town and all it has to offer.

Along with local bike tour company ‘Eat Sleep Cycle’, we’re offering a five-night stay where you’ll eat the finest food, explore amazing countryside, train with the pros and probably come home with a bit of colour too.

The offer is only valid for one of two weeks either side of Christmas. See dates below.

Girona is home to upwards of 100 professional riders and during the winter it's not uncommon to see bunches like this out on the road.

So if you plan on winning the local winter world championships in Girona, you’d better go handy on the cranberry sauce over the holiday period!

The training camp’s emphasis will be on steady miles with some intensity thrown in, though this is entirely up to you whether you want to participate.

To be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is go to the Eat Sleep Cycle Facebook page and like and share the post about the competition and you’re automatically entered.

The value of the prize is €1,500 and includes return flights for two (from Dublin), airport pick-up, fully guided rides for the entire week, five nights’ accommodation in a stunning four-star hotel right in the Old Town.

Eat Sleep Cycle have only become established this year but already, report a steady uptake for their training camps (including women’s-only camps), week-long cycling holidays and point-to-point trips.

As well as that, there’s been big demand for bike rental as more and more tourists flock to the area.

After all those long winter miles there's nothing better than heading to the most popular coffee shop in town for a post-ride brew...and large slice of cake.

Should the winners of the prize prefer not to cycle on a certain day, they can occupy themselves by exploring the stunning Catalan countryside and its many quaint villages, wander the twisty, cobbled streets of Girona or sample some local dishes from the endless array of restaurants.

The rides during the training camp will range in distance from 60 to 160 kilometres and riders of all levels will be catered for on the trip.

As there will be at least two guides and a support car, nobody will be left left behind.

If you want to enter the competition you can do so via the Eat Sleep Cycle Facebook page.

The closing date for entry is June 30th.

And if you want to check out the company’s point to point trips,  training camps or very cool race experiences follow the links and find out more.

Also, most importantly, you must be available to travel on the dates of the trips; those being pre-Christmas December 12-17 OR post-Christmas January 2-7th.

Note: There’s also a 10% discount for those who book a training camp before August 31st but be warned that places are limited.

The Catalan province is blessed to have so many charming little villages which you can easily explore by bike from Girona. This picture is of a place called Besalu, some 25 kilometres north west.
