Video: Ryan Mullen gets WorldTour state-of-art bike fit in US

Now in the Cannondale fold at WorldTour level, even top tester Ryan Mullen can benefit from a state of the art bike fit.

Irish hopeful Ryan Mullen may have ridden as a stagiaire with WorldTour team Cannondale towards the end of last year, but his career-proper at the highest level is just about to get underway.

The former U23 time trial silver medallist at the World Road Championships has been racking up the miles at a training camp in Aspen, where attention to detail has been the name of the game.

Mullen and the rest of the team have been undergoing new bike fits with the GURU Academy, which specialises in making the riders as comfortable and fast as possible by tweaking their positions.

And though Mullen’s position has always been regarded as first class, even he had some work to do, as the clip below the photos reveals.

“Today was my first Guru fit and I’ve not had a fit in a long time,” said Irish elite and U23 TT champion Mullen, a renowned stylist on the bike.

“I think I had my first fit when I was 14 or 15 and I’ve grown something like two foot since then,” he joked.

“My position today has changed and it’s changed a lot; I think for the better. The DFU machine I was on is an amazing piece of kit.

“You’re riding in your original positions and then make a few adjustments with the keyboard and it’s all automatic; it’s really simply and really easy.

The athlete's psoition can be changed by moving up and down or back and forward both the handlebars and saddle.

Nothing is left to chance.

The riders' information is all saved so subsequent checks can result in even tiny further changes to position to increase riders' aero position, as well as tweak how they sit on the bike for optimum comfort and power.
