Video: How to properly fit mudguards to your road bike

Do it neat and tight and get it right from the start. Anyone even commuting without mudguards at this time of year needs their head examined.

Mudguards that fit to racing bikes are increasingly available. And whether you’re commuting to work, cycling at the weekends for leisure or training for racing next season, there really is no excuse for not having them.

They won’t keep you completely dry, but they’ll save you from a wet backside if you're caught in a shower.

They'll also save you when you find yourself cycling after the rain has stopped but still getting soaked from the wet roads for want of a pair of mudguards.

If they are fixed on properly from the start they won’t rattle and drive you crazy, or even fall apart when you’re least expecting it.
