Both international riders who are now coaching other cyclists, Matt Teggart and Barry Monaghan are holding an event aimed at advising riders before they begin their preparation for the 2023 racing season.
Teggart is still racing, of course, and most recently won the sprints classification after an aggressive ride through the Tour of Britain, but also runs his own MNT Coaching business. Monaghan was an international rider during his racing career and has been coaching - Barry Monaghan Performance - for many years while also working as directeur with teams.
They have decided to pool their coaching expertise going forward and are now inviting cyclists to attend an evening where planning for next season will be on the agenda. It sounds like an ideal opportunity to get advice for two experts before you throw yourself in winter training with an eye on next season. Those planning to attend should fill out the online form available at this link.
Monaghan and Teggart said thy were delighted to announce their "presentation on training and preparation for the 2023 season". It will take place on Wednesday, November 9th, starting 7pm at Havelock Park, Lurgan Road, Banbridge.
"The night will be very informative and aims to help prepare cyclists for the 2023 race season," they said. "Many important topics regarding training and racing will be covered during the evening and there will be time at the end for a question and answer session. The evening is aimed at anyone, from junior to Masters 60 and beyond."
While both Teggart and Monaghan were blessed with plenty of talent for cycling, they are also no-nonsense athletes and coaches. They have also stayed tuned to the latest changes in coaching methods, meaning their presentation should be very valuable.
Barry Monaghan Performance and MNT Coaching have in recent weeks begun working together to develop their coaching offering for both cyclists and triathletes, with next month's presentation the first public event they will jointly run.
While Teggart raced for UK Continental team WiV-SunGod this year, he has combined his racing career with his coaching practice, something he plans to continue. Monaghan is in the coaching game more than 20 years and has worked with many of the best riders in Ireland during that time.
