Martyn Irvine, the Olympian and former world champion on the track, has been appointed to a key development position within Cycling Ireland.

The appointment comes after Irvine had played a role in managing many Irish teams - including the U23s and elites - in the years since his racing career came to a close.

He was national coach at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and also coached the Irish team during the UCI World Road Championships in Zurich the week before last.

Cycling Ireland has confirmed Irvine is the new high performance pathway coach within the national governing body's high performance unit (HPU).
