Some of the topics covered include:
- Stay motivated with winter goals that aren’t too daunting
- Track your progress by keeping notes on your phone so your progress can keep you going in the tougher times
- Identify the moments when you indulge most in the wrong foods and then reduce them
- Monitor how many calories you burn while riding so you know how many you’re burning compared to how much you’re consuming
- Try having a low carb dinner that’s protein rich and then next morning have a no carb breakfast followed by 1½ hour low intensity ride and when you come home resume your normal diet
- Don’t go crazy eating food that’s convenient when you come home from a ride – continuing to eat on your ride will help avoid any post-ride blow out when you're starving
You can also combine some high intensity efforts with your winter training programme, but don’t go too crazy on that front.
However, if you are hoping to lose weight, that process should be gradually and done over a period of time rather than aiming for significant weight loss quickly. Be careful and ideally consult a coach and get plenty of guidance.
