Eurosport-GCN lead cycling presenter, Orla Chennaoui, is taking up a new TV presenting job in rugby union on TNT Sport, a new replacement and rebrand of the long-established BT Sport.
Chennaoui, originally from Derry and based in the Netherlands, has been the face of Eurosport-GCN coverage of pro cycling in recent years. She will take on a similar role at TNT Sport, where she will present a selection of live Gallagher Premiership matches.
She started her career in journalism in Scotland, after studying journalism there, and worked for the Scotland on Sunday and Edinburgh Evening News newspapers. Chennaoui, a former Irish triple jump champion, then moved into television and eventually went to work for Sky News, from 2005, as Northern Ireland correspondent.
In the period before the London Olympics she specialised in covering the build-up to the Games, with an emphasis on cycling, and went to work for Sky Sports before eventually joining Eurosport - the so-called home of cycling - in 2019. Since then she has been the lead presented for the sport on Eurosport-GCN, working as anchor presenter joined by various pundits, including former pro riders.
Chennaoui will continue to have a role on Eurosport-GCN's cycling coverage while also working on TNT Sport's rugby coverage, though how the two jobs will combine was not immediately clear.
Craig Doyle, a long-established BT Sports presenter, will continue to host live coverage of rugby matches on TNT. Pundit Ugo Monye will also take on some presenting duties while the lead commentators will be Alastair Eykyn and Nick Mullins.
Chennaoui's addition to the rugby broadcasting team at TNT Sport was announced as part of wider changes as the channel replaces BT Sport. As part of the rugby coverage changes, retired Scotland captain Stuart Hogg is joining as a pundit and will appear alongside former players such as Brian O'Driscoll and Laurence Dallaglio.
TNT Sport's rugby package includes the European Champions Cup, EPCR Challenge Cup and Gallagher Premiership. It also broadcasts Champions League soccer, as well as the Europa League, Europa Conference League and English Premier League.
