Damien Shaw (An Post-ChainReaction) claimed a memorable victory on the opening stage of the Tour of Loir-et-Cher (2.2). And here is the big man on the podium with the yellow jersey. Below is a video of the moment he came across the line by himself in what was his first foreign race of the season.

Damien Shaw has won many races as an amateur rider since he started cycling around six years ago. But today, Wednesday, he took his first one as a pro.

The 32-year old was part of the day’s seven-man break at the Tour of Loir-et-Cher.

It escaped on the 154.5-kilometre stage between Blois and Mont-Près-Chambord and stayed away until the finish.

The Irishman led home Thomas Rostollan (Equipe Cicliste Armée de Terre) and Joey Van Rhee (Destil-Jo Piels CT).

And it was an even sweeter win for the Mullingar man as he took the first yellow jersey of the race.

We will have Shaw’s reaction to the race as soon as we can. For now, check out his winning moment in the clip below.
