Sam Bennett has taken the fifth Tour of Turkey stage win of his career with victory on stage 2 today.

Ireland’s Sam Bennett has gone one better than yesterday at the Tour of Turkey to win today’s stage.

While his team’s lead-out was poor 24 hours ago, Bora-hansgrohe and the Irishman made no mistake today.

And in the bunch sprint to the finish line at the end of 154km into Antalya, Bennett was best.

He took the victory from QuickStep’s Colombian sprinter Álvaro José Hodeg. Simone Consonni (UAE-Team Emirates) was 3rd.

The only other Irish rider in the race, Nicolas Roche (BMC) finished in the bunch in 67th place.

Yesterday Maximiliano Richeze of QuickStep took the stage after slipping off the front with 600 metres remaining.

Bennett had to be content with 2nd and he wore the green jersey of points leader into today’s stage.

However, Sam Bennett has now taken the race lead, with six seconds in hand over Richeze after today’s win.
