Crit racing specialist Jason Prendergast took his first win of the season over the weekend with victory in the Éire Óg CC-promoted Mooney Trophy in Sligo.

The Cunga CC man edged Mark O’Callaghan (Aquablue) with Mark Quigley (Cunga CC) rounding out the podium for third.

The 50-minute plus 3-lap affair saw Prendergast and O’Callaghan escape after 15 minutes of racing on Saturday evening.

They rode together for the remainder of the contest, maintaining a gap of just under a minute on the chasing bunch.

O’Callaghan tried to shake Prendergast on the penultimate lap by attacking but the latter had enough in reserve to claw himself back up to the wheel and counter on the final few bends.
