Powerhouse Sport enjoy weekend to remember with four wins

Posted on: April 15th, 2018

The Powerhouse Sport riders cleaned up on Saturday and Sunday. Junior Adam Ward was promoted to A2 after Saturday and won the A1-A2 race 24 hours later.

Having won two of the three races at the East Tyrone GP on Saturday, Powerhouse Sport put on a repeat performance at today’s Bann Valley Classic.

In the A1-A2 main event the winner yesterday, Lindsay Watson, filled the runner-up spot behind junior Adam Ward.

A breakaway of 10 riders broke clear on the opening lap and continued to pull ahead as the race progressed; Ward proving best in the end.

And in the A3 event today Cathir Doyle was victorious. He also won the East Tyrone GP A3 race yesterday, with Adam Ward just behind him,.

Ward was upgraded to A2 on the basis of Saturday’s result and so he rode the main event today; making a seamless progression with  a win.

The A3 race today saw a six-man escape pull clear, never looking like they would be caught.

The host club Bann Valley Wheelers did not go home empty handed. Its riders Eugene Clarke and Chris Tierney took a 1-2 in the A4 race.

It came down to a bunch sprint despite plenty of aggression. After Clarke and Tierney came Declan McKenna (Carn Wheelers).

David Armstrong (Dromara CC) was next for 4th followed by  Lee Somerville (Lakeland) and Carn’s Neil Calderwood.
