Yesterday's Tour of Flanders threw up an absolutely fantastic edition of one of the very best races in the world, with aggressive riding from the biggest classics men in the sport splitting the field and producing a really worthy podium.
But as the likes of winner Fabian Cancellara (Trek), runner up Greg Van Avermaet (BMC) and third placed man Sep Vanmarcke (Belkin) were ripping it up at the head of affairs there was a trail of destruction behind with a huge number of crashes along the testing 259km parcours.
This video really captures what these riders go through and the kind of spills they shrug off to get straight back on their bikes and get on with their race; a resilience you don't see in any other sport.

Geraint Thomas hangs in for dear life on the Taaienberg; the Team Sky man would go on to claim a very respectable 8th place just 37 seconds down, a ride that will fill him with plenty of confidence for Paris-Roubaix (Photo: Sirotti)
