Gardai have appealed to members of the public to come forward if they can help their investigation into a collision that left a boy seriously injured.

The victim, a 14-year-old, was cycling in Co Kildare yesterday when he was in collision with a 4X4.

He was taken to hospital from the scene and is still being treated there. Gardai said his injuries are serious and an investigation has begun.

They believe the incident was witnessed by others and want them to come forward and aid the inquiry, which is based from Kildare Town Garda station.

“Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious injury collision in Co Kildare on June 14th,” a Garda statement said.

“At approximately 12.30pm a 14-year-old boy was seriously injured when his bicycle collided with a 4×4 vehicle.

“The collision occurred on a local road between Monasterevin and Oghill – the L7055.

“He was taken by ambulance to our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. The driver of the 4×4, a man in his 30s, was uninjured.

“The scene was examined by Garda forensic collision investigators and the road has since reopened.”
