The gardai have been investigating the incident for quite some time, but now they have appealed for information.

Gardai who in Co Mayo have launched an appeal for anyone with information on a cyclist’s recent training rider incident to come forward.

The cyclist in question, who wishes to remain anonymous, has been in contact with stickybottle and he does not believe he simply crashed off his bike.

He came around in the road clearly having crashed and been knocked out for a period. But he has no idea what happened and no memory of the incident.

While the incident occurred at the end of May, the Garda investigation since then has not managed to determine what happened to the cyclist.

And in the absence of any progress in the investigation, gardai in Swinford have now issued an appeal for information.

They say the mystery crash occurred near Kilkelly on Tuesday, May 29th, at about 2pm.

The cyclist in question was found on the roadway close to the Applegreen service station on the N17 just outside Kilkelly.

He had somehow come off his bike and been knocked out; it is assumed as a result of the impact.

However, while he does not know what happened and there are no witnesses to date, the cyclist does not believe he would have fallen of his bike.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Swinford Garda station on 094 9252990.
