Irish riders Conn McDunphy and Dermot Trulock having signed for the new Holdsworth Bikes pro team.

The bike brand sponsored pro teams in the UK for many years and is making a return for 2018.

Both McDunphy and Trulock have been riding for Lucan CRC in Dublin in recent years.

McDunphy made the jump to Raleigh GAC, a UK Continental level team, mid season this year.

And while it appeared he was set to race for the team again next year, he is now Holdsworth-bound.

Trulock has ridden very strongly on the domestic scene in recent seasons; progressing steadily every year.

Holdsworth was recently acquired by Planet X and its livery will be back in the peloton soon.

It sponsored a UK pro team in the 1970s which was one of the most successful in the country.

A number of other Irish riders have been speaking to the team about the possibility of joining for next year.

One of those is Sean McKenna, formerly of An Post Chainreaction. His place in the team in 2018 was expected to be confirmed shortly.

More to follow.
