If, like us, you have a butler with a service vehicle who likes following you around on your bike, please look away now.
Okay, so this is probably not the most interesting topic we’ve ever covered. But there’s some really sound information in here that you should know even if you’re only going in and out of work on the bike.
Punctures are an absolute pain in the backside, especially on mucky, wet or cold days.
This video talks you through some tips aimed at reducing the likelihood of getting a flat. It’s split into the three main causes of punctures:
- Sharp objects piercing tyre and tube.
- Imperfections in your wheel rims.
- Hard impacts that puncture your tube by pinching it.
If you follow the advice in the clip below, you won’t completely escape puncturing this winter.
But you will definitely increase your chances of avoiding one, which should save you a puncture or two over the full winter.
There’s also some good advice about tyre width and the type of tyre you might think about using on your training wheels. And the same goes for your choice of inner tube.
The clip also assesses the benefits of tubeless tyres and offers some tips on where on the road you should ride to avoid punctures and what to do if you ride over glass.
